Although grafting has been used as a tool to improve plant performance for over 2,000 years, there are many open questions about what makes particular graft combinations successful, how graft junctions are formed, and what moves between grafted organ systems. His research focuses on elucidating the history of modern human populations and on developing computational methods for searching for genes important in human biology.
